BabbleBoxx most recently partnered with Allison to showcase luxury skincare from EltaMD as an essential for all skin types, year round. We caught up with Allison last month to find out more about her mission and tips for brands and influencers to ensure successful partnerships. What inspired you to become a content creator? Allison: Other content creators. I followed many before doing this and one day it clicked that I can do this too. Also the fact that I am on a mission to diversify the influencer community. To see more people like me! What would you do differently as an influencer if you could start from the beginning again? Allison: Research the time and effect that goes in to it... Figure out my niche in the beginning. What kind of content do your followers react to best? What’s the secret to keeping them engaged? Allison: Right now video is where it is at. Lots of engagement on videos. Keep them engaged by responding back to them. What kinds of work are you hoping to do in the future? Allison: Work with more beauty and skincare brands. I would love to collaborate on a product with a brand like Pixi or Tula. What are the most important steps people can take to convert their influence from a passion project to a source of income? Allison: Be authentic, honest, go above and beyond. Also give some value add to your followers and brands without prompting (this keeps them coming back). Use products you already have to start. Also actually ask brands if they have an influencer budget. If you don't ask, you don't get! What has been your biggest campaign success story? Why do you think it was a success? Allison: One of my favorite and successful campaigns was working with L'Oreal. This campaign allowed me to work on skills that I had not perfected yet, which was videography. I used an app, did voice over, added music to the background and they loved it. So did my followers! What do you think is the most important thing for brands to keep in mind about leveraging content creators on social media? Allison: Always keep an open dialogue, agree upon expectations and deliverables before committing to partner, and have things in writing.  Both brands and influencers should be realistic about compensation based on the requirements of a campaign and the time it will take to complete the assignment. Keep up with Allison on Instagram and Twitter.   We want to hear your story! Do you consider yourself an expert on how to become an influencer?
